The present salaries (£300 per annum), which

have remained unchanged since 1903, are in my opinion

inadequate in present circumstances in view both of the work

entailed and of the high level of prices in the Colony, and

I request your sanction to increase them to £500 per annum

as from 1st January, 1929.
